Anticc waterproofs basements and cellars across Chatham, the Medway towns and Kent, using cementitious tanking and cavity drain membrane systems. We survey the space and the outside of the building first, establish where water is entering, then specify a system based on how the room will be used. All work carries a ten year insurance backed guarantee.
Most Cellars Are Written Off Rather Than Fixed
A lot of Medway houses have a cellar being used for a boiler, some boxes and not much else, because it smells damp and nobody trusts it with anything that matters.
The reason people leave it that way is that basement work sounds like a big unknown. It is also easy to get wrong, because a cellar can be wet from groundwater, from a failure above, or from condensation, and each of those needs a different answer.
We Work Out Where the Water Is Coming From
We inspect the cellar and the outside of the property, including ground levels, drainage, gutters and downpipes, the render and the roof.
We establish whether you have water pushing in through the structure, water arriving from a fault higher up the building, condensation, or a combination.
Then we specify a system based on that and on what you actually want to use the room for, because storage and a habitable room are not the same specification.
How the Job Runs
01
Free survey of the cellar and the outside of the building.
02
Findings explained, with photos of what we found.
03
Written itemised quote setting out the system and the finish.
04
External causes dealt with first, such as drainage, guttering and render.
05
Walls and floor prepared, then the waterproofing system installed.
06
Drainage and, where needed, a sump and pump fitted.
07
Finishes applied, photos sent through, and the site cleared.
What Changes the Job
The size of the cellar and how much of it is below ground.
How the water is getting in and how much of it there is.
What the room will be used for, since a habitable room needs more than dry storage.
The system specified, from cementitious tanking to a cavity drain membrane with drainage.
Whether a sump and pump are needed, and whether a backup is wanted.
Access for getting materials in and waste out.
The level of finish you want at the end.
We give you a fixed written price after the survey, not a figure over the phone.
Systems We Use
WATERPROOFING
- Cementitious tanking slurry, bonded to the structure to hold water back.
- Cavity drain membrane systems, which manage water to a drainage channel rather than trying to resist it.
DRAINAGE
- Perimeter drainage channels with a sump and pump where the water table requires it.
FINISHING
- Insulated and finished walls and floors where the room is becoming habitable.
- Ventilation, because a dry room still needs air movement.
Ten Years, Insurance Backed
Every job we finish carries a ten year guarantee on workmanship and materials, insurance backed through the Confederation of Roofing Contractors.

Questions People Ask
Can any cellar be made dry?
In most cases yes, but the right system depends on what is happening and how you want to use the room. We will tell you honestly what is achievable before you commit.
What is the difference between tanking and a membrane system?
Tanking is a bonded coating that holds water back. A cavity drain membrane lets water arrive behind the membrane and manages it away to a drain. Which one suits depends on the water pressure and the intended use.
Do I need a pump?
Only where water needs to be taken away rather than held back. If you do, we will talk about backup options, since a pump is a mechanical item.
Can I turn the cellar into a room?
Often yes, and it is one of the cheapest ways to add usable space to a Medway terrace. The specification is higher than for storage, and there may be building regulations and ventilation to deal with.
How long does the work take?
Longer than a damp course, and it depends on size, the system and the finish. You get a timeline with the written quote.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. Ten years on workmanship and materials, insurance backed through the Confederation of Roofing Contractors.
