About Anticc

  • Who are Anticc Roofing and Building?

A second generation family firm based on Victoria Road in Chatham. There are nine of us, and we cover roofing, damp proofing and building work across Medway and Kent.

  • Are you accredited?

Yes. We are members of the Federation of Master Builders and the Confederation of Roofing Contractors, and we are a Checkatrade member and a TrustATrader approved trader.

  • Will John come out himself?

Yes. John quotes every job personally, and he stays your point of contact through the work.

  • Do you cover my area?

We are across Chatham, Rochester, Gillingham, Rainham, Strood and the surrounding Medway villages every week, and further into Kent including Maidstone, Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells. If you are not sure, ring and ask.

  • Do you charge for a survey?

No. The survey is free and it includes a drone flight over the roof where that is relevant. You see the footage before we talk about the job.

  • Do I get to keep the drone footage?

Yes. It is yours. Use it for an insurance claim or to check other quotes.

  • Is the quote written down?

Always. Written and itemised, with the scaffolding included and the timber repairs set out up front, so you can compare it properly against anyone else's.

  • Why do quotes from different firms look so different?

Usually because of what has been left out. Scaffolding is the line most often missing, and timber repairs are the other, because nobody can see the rafters until the covering comes off. A quote that leaves both open looks smaller on paper.

  • Is there any obligation after the survey?

None. If we look at your roof and it does not need work, we will tell you so and leave you to it.

Surveys and Quotes

During The Work

  • Will I know what is going on?

Yes, and this is the thing our customers mention most. Photos and video come through while the job runs, so you can follow it while you are at work.

  • Do I need to be at home?

No. Plenty of our customers are at work throughout, which is exactly why we document everything.

  • Will I have to move out?

For most jobs, no. Where a job makes a room unusable we will tell you before you commit, not on the day.

  • What happens to the mess?

Rubbish and scaffolding are cleared the day we finish. It comes up in our reviews more than almost anything else.

  • What if it rains during the work?

A roof is never left open and exposed overnight or through bad weather. We sheet up and plan the work around the forecast.

  • Do I need a new roof or will a repair do?

Often a repair is enough and we will tell you so. A roof with sound timbers and one failed area is a repair. A covering at the end of its life with a failed membrane and repeat slipped tiles is where a re-roof stops being throwing money at it.

  • How long does a re-roof take?

Two to five working days for most Medway properties, depending on size, pitch, access and weather. You get a timeline with the quote.

  • Do you work in winter?

Yes. Roofs fail in bad weather, which is when people need us most. Where a job needs a dry window we will say so rather than rushing it.

  • Can you help with an insurance claim?

Yes. We photograph and film what we find, which is normally what an insurer needs, and we can carry out the repair.

Roofing

Damp

  • Is it rising damp or is it the roof?

Both can leave the same stain on the same wall, which is why so much damp work fails. We check the roof, the gutters, the flashing, the render and the damp course before we say which it is.

  • Will the damp come back after treatment?

Not if the cause was dealt with rather than the wall being covered up. That is why we diagnose first and why the work is guaranteed for ten years.

  • Can you make a cellar usable?

In most cases yes. The specification depends on what you want to use the room for, and we will be honest about what is achievable before you commit.

  • Is your work guaranteed?

Yes. Ten years on workmanship and materials from the day we finish, insurance backed through the Confederation of Roofing Contractors.

  • What does insurance backed mean?

An insurer stands behind the guarantee rather than just us, so the cover does not depend on Anticc still trading.

  • What is not covered?

Storm and weather damage, normal wear and maintenance, cosmetic cracking, consequential loss, and anything reported outside the 21 day notice period. The full terms are on our guarantee page.
