A moisture affected lower ground space that the owner wanted turned into a dry, protected and usable room.

What We Found

The basement walls were suffering damp penetration through the brickwork and the old finishes. Everything had to come back to bare masonry so the tanking system could bond correctly and no trapped moisture was left behind the new finish.

What We Did

All existing plaster, loose coatings and contaminated materials were stripped back to the original brickwork. The exposed masonry was cleaned and prepared to remove dust, salts and debris, with weak areas repaired to give a solid substrate. A high performance cementitious tanking slurry was applied across all walls to form a continuous waterproof barrier against groundwater. Once cured, the walls were finished with a damp resistant render ready for decoration or boarding, and electrical points and service penetrations were sealed correctly to maintain the integrity of the system.
