Roof Refelt and New Battens in Maidstone

- New Roofs

What They Called Us About

The felt and battens had deteriorated over time, and the owner wanted to keep the original tiles to maintain the character of the property while improving the roof structure, ventilation and weatherproofing.

What We Found

The old underlay had perished and many battens were beginning to rot, which compromised the roof's ability to keep water out. The tiles themselves were in good condition, so a full refelt and rebatten was what the roof actually needed.

What We Did

The existing tiles were carefully removed and set aside for reuse, avoiding unnecessary waste. The old felt and battens were stripped away to expose the rafters, and any weakened sections repaired. A breathable membrane was installed for modern waterproofing and ventilation, then new treated timber battens securely fixed. The original tiles were re-laid, with any cracked or damaged ones replaced with matches for a seamless finish, and the roof fully inspected on completion.
