The roof had reached the point where repairs were no longer practical, and the owner chose to upgrade the entire system to modern materials.

What We Found

At the initial assessment the underlay, battens and tiles were all showing significant signs of ageing. The felt had deteriorated, many battens were failing, and the tiles were no longer giving adequate protection, so a complete replacement was the right way to restore performance.

What We Did

The roof was stripped back to its rafters, removing all tiles, battens and worn felt. Debris, damaged timber and weakened areas were addressed so the frame was solid. A high performance breathable underlay was fitted, followed by new treated battens at precise spacing. Brand new tiles were laid across the whole surface, the flashings renewed and detailed work carried out around the chimney and junctions, then a full final inspection confirmed secure fixings and correct alignment.
