The owner wanted a durable replacement that would improve weather protection without changing the familiar appearance of the property.

What We Found

The existing roof was showing its age, with worn tiles and mortar deterioration around the ridge and verge lines, which is where water most often gets into an older roof.

What We Did

The old covering was removed and the timber structure inspected and confirmed sound, then new breathable underlay and treated battens installed. Damaged tiles were replaced with matching ones and the originals reinstalled where possible, keeping the look consistent with the surrounding homes. The ridge and verge were upgraded to a dry fix system, which is mortar free, improves ventilation, resists storm damage and removes the need for future repointing. The lead flashing along adjoining walls and chimneys was renewed to maintain watertight protection.
