The property had been suffering significant damp issues and poor drainage, which needed a complete overhaul to protect the interior and exterior from ongoing damage.

What We Found

The outdated and ineffective external drainage system was contributing to the damp problems inside the property, so both the internal damp and the external cause had to be dealt with together.

What We Did

Internally, the lower sections of plaster were removed from affected walls to expose the brickwork, which was then treated with a high performance damp proof membrane before the walls were re-rendered and plastered ready for decoration. Externally, a complete new drainage system was installed, excavating around the property to lay new pipes so rainwater and surface water are redirected away from the building, with linear drainage channels around the perimeter and particularly near vulnerable areas such as the bay windows. The external paving was repaired and sections of block paving relaid and realigned to ensure proper run off towards the drains.
